Job description

Senior software developer (C# / .NET, Data Analysis)
Build the software that turns ultrasonic inspection data into safety-critical pipeline decisions worldwide, and lift the team around you.

Location: Utrecht region (head office in Tricht, Gelderland)

About Intero Integrity

Intero Integrity is an internationally operating specialist in the inspection, maintenance and emission monitoring of pipelines and industrial assets. We develop our inspection technology entirely in-house: from ultrasonic measurement systems and FPGA signal processing to the software our analysts use to interpret hundreds of kilometres of pipeline data.

The inspection results our software produces are used for safety-critical decisions about the integrity of pipelines and industrial installations such as heat exchangers. Reliability and correctness are therefore not a nice-to-have, but an absolute requirement.

We operate across Europe, North America and the Middle East. Our software products sit at the heart of that work: they are used every day by our data analysis organisation around the world. Whatever you build here has a direct, global impact.

The opportunity

This is a role for a senior engineer who enjoys both sides of the craft: building excellent software, and helping people around you get better. You will work hands-on on the C#/.NET software behind our data analysis, turning large volumes of ultrasonic inspection data into reliable insights that our organisation uses worldwide.

What makes it attractive is the mix. You mentor and guide our internal developers, setting an example in how we design, review and test. At the same time you work side by side with our external development partners. Learning from them, challenging them and making sure the work meets a high bar. You'll grow as an engineer and as a mentor, often in the same week.

Because our data is used for safety-critical decisions, a strong sense of software quality runs through the role: it shapes how you design, how you review and where you set the standard for the team. If you value knowledge transfer and a healthy engineering culture as much as writing good code, you will feel at home here.

What you will do

Hands-on software development

•      You design, build and maintain C# applications for the analysis and reporting of inspection data

•      You work with large volumes of ultrasonic signal data and binary data streams

•      You build web applications and REST APIs on the ASP.NET platform

•      You contribute to bringing machine learning / Human-in-the-Loop capabilities into the data analysis workflow

•      You work with cloud-native services, preferably on Azure

•      You contribute to test strategies at functional, integration and system level, with an eye for the safety-critical use of the software

•      You work closely with hardware engineers, test engineers and domain specialists (UT inspection)

Mentorship & working with partners

•      You mentor and coach our internal developers and help them grow their technical skills

•      You lead by example in code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing

•      You work side by side with external development partners, challenging their choices and making sure the work meets a high standard

•      You help establish and document engineering standards: coding guidelines, review processes, testing strategies and release policy

•      You make sure design decisions and domain knowledge are documented and transferable, so the team can operate independently

•      You help shape a development culture where quality and continuous improvement are the norm

What you bring

Technical expertise

•      Extensive experience with C# and the .NET platform

•      Solid knowledge of software architecture, design principles and design patterns

•      Experience building web applications and REST APIs (ASP.NET)

•      Experience writing maintainable, testable, high-quality software

•      Experience with automated testing and CI/CD

•      The ability to mentor others and lift the level of a team

•      Good communication skills and the ability to clearly substantiate technical choices

A plus

•      Experience with cloud development, preferably Azure

•      Experience with machine learning and/or image recognition, and operationalising ML in production

•      Affinity with signal processing, measurement data and data streams, preferably in an industrial or technical context

•      Experience with WPF and complex desktop applications

•      Experience in a domain where software quality and reliability have direct impact (industrial automation, medical software, measurement & inspection or similar)

When do we see you as a senior?

For us, seniority goes beyond years of experience or technical skill. We are looking for someone who understands that technical choices affect the product, the organisation and our customers, and who actively takes responsibility for that.

You:

•      Form an independent view on architecture and technology

•      Think critically about requirements, assumptions and existing ways of working

•      Take responsibility for quality, also outside your own code, and recognise that in a safety-critical domain the bar is higher

•      Consciously build team knowledge: you document, explain and help colleagues grow

•      Are comfortable in an environment where not everything is fixed yet, and know how to bring structure to it

•      Actively contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team

What we offer

A senior role with real influence on our software products and how we build them, the chance to mentor and grow a team, and the variety of working alongside experienced external partners, in a domain where technology genuinely matters.

Salary & terms of employment

•      Gross monthly salary between € 5.328,- and € 6.715,- based on a 40-hour week, depending on knowledge and experience

•      Year-end bonus, dependent on company results

•      25 holiday days per year

•      Hybrid working (3 days per week at the office in Tricht as standard) and flexible working hours

•      Collective pension scheme, with Intero contributing 50% of the premium

•      Laptop and phone provided

Working environment

•      Technically challenging problems at the intersection of software, hardware and data

•      Collaboration with experienced specialists across a range of technical disciplines

•      Free fruit at work, access to the Intero Gym, company fitness options and a bike leasing scheme

•      An international, technically driven working environment with plenty of room for ownership and initiative
